She ended up coming across a pirate ship, and not only joined the crew, but became captain as she worked her plans to continue her research. She thought she found a home, and she was happy as she continued her research and spent most of the time coming up with a way to get enough pixie dust to make the entire pirate ship fly. She was too distracted by her science and the support to realize she was being used. She went native and changed completely to match what the Pirates wanted her to be. It took a year to prepare, including making her own pixie dust tree. In that time Zarina had become so used to her new pirate family she had no problem attacking Pixie Hollow to steal the Blue Dust supply, a key ingredient to her studies and plan. When confronted by her friends she choose the pirates over them initially. Until, once she had finished the preparations, the pirates turned on her. Locking her up in case she was still needed. With Tinker Bell and the others, they rescued her and she helped them defeat the pirates and claim the ship, and return with what they stole. Pixie Hollow taking her back when she returned, and finally accepting her talents. ...But she’s keeping the pirate look, she thinks it makes her more badass. Her biggest strength is her biggest flaw: her passion. She gets so drawn into what she’s doing that she loses objectivity to slow down. The accident that caused her to leave Pixie Hollow was because she kept moving forward with her experiments without contacting the other fairies to show what she discovered. She worked out of her home and didn’t think to work in a place far enough out from the Hollow that it wouldn’t destroy everything in the process. She was so anxious to see what was next, to find out more about pixie dust, that she didn’t stop to think. But that passion is what also helps her focus, how she learned swordplay in a year, and how she discovered all the secrets pixie dust had to offer. That let her build a new pixie dust tree on her own, and figure out how to modify a pirate ship so it could fly. Her curiosity gets her into as much trouble, but that’s because her passion is to learn new things. She’s a little playful, like all fairies, putting pixie dust in her hair making it float only for her own amusement. Her time with the pirates didn’t seem to mellow this out, as she was happily dancing with the crew too. Her unique qualities extend past just her passion and curious nature (shared by only one fairy in the hollow: Tinkerbell). She has no issue walking place to place (most fairies don’t know what the word ‘stroll’ means), which she did as she started storing her dust for experiments, showing the determination she has for what she thinks is important. She stylized her apron at work, to make it her’s since she relishes her own unique qualities even if they cause other fairies trouble. She fears, probably most of all, being alone and being useless. Fairies are communal by nature, and she had friends even if she was a bit of an oddball. But it hurt most to be cast out for attempting to help, for her honest belief her studies could make the Hollow better. Why she would even accept a place with pirates as opposed to becoming a hermit to work, trying to find a home that accepts her.
1. Yellow Dust: Yellow dust allows things to fly/float, fairies can fly pretty freely with one dose working for the day. But that’s due to fairies being much smaller than other beings, others will have much shorter times in the air (probably about 10 minutes if lucky) due to being too big for the dust. It can also be used to make other objects float, and while Zarina can fly she seems to be able to adjust the (effective) weight of other objects, as she could swordfight a full sized human on even footing provided she could move. The three a day rule applies to making other people fly… but she’s a fairy, this is a natural state for fairies to be able to fly (provided she has dust). 2. Other color dusts: These get a bit… tricky, with yellow dust, a fragment of blue dust, and the right ingredients she can make other colors of pixie dust, each one matches one of the basic talents of fairy from the series. These get a bit more unstable in The Bastion, so while she can make as much as she wants, all dusts work under a collective three uses a day rule. Dusting it over the body/hands allows you to work a talent manually, but Fast Flying and Garden talents can be used as a dust bomb and applied directly to something for effect (Fast Flying makes whirlwinds, Garden dust works as a super growth formula for plants). A large enough dose to a Fairy makes them into that talent of fairy (Zarina swapped the talents of every main fairy in the movie). This shouldn’t come up unless other fairies are apped into the game. A fun bonus thing: When a fairy talks to a human, they make jingling bell noises (much like Tinkerbell in the Disney Peter Pan movie), which... aren't really understood by humans. Of course, this only applies to humans. Some humans (James Hook and Peter Pan) are able to understand fairies but it's an uncommon trait. Pixie Dust Types: The specific talents and effects of the other color dusts are: Animal - Orange - Materials not shown in canon (assume rocks and fur). Makes animals friendly toward you and allows for easier communication with animals. Garden - Pink - Made from the essence of flowers. Causes plants to grow or be manipulated by your will. Light - Amber - Made with sunflower seeds and a pinch of moonflower. Creates rainbows and bends light. Fast-flying - Purple - Made with feathers. Creates whirlwinds and allows for, well... fast flight. Tinker - Green - Materials not shown in canon (assume metal/lost things). Allows a better understanding of human creations, and a crash course in mechanical engineering. Water - Cyan - Materials not shown in canon (probably water). Allows for manipulation and control of water. - None Purchased yet. - None Purchased yet. | |||||||
